Our History
With the vision to be a regional force in the Maintenance, Repair, and Operations field, Industrial Bolt & Supply (IBS, Inc.) was founded in 1977 in Federal Way, Washington, by Jack and Linda Butcher. Leveraging his history in the industry, Jack grew IBS from a mom-and-pop distribution operation into a distinguished and comprehensive maintenance supply business known for its service and quality guarantee. IBS joined the Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributor’s Association (STAFDA) in 1978 and Jack served on the STAFDA board from 1991 – 1993. In 2000, IBS relocated to its current location in Auburn, Washington. After 30 years of successful operations and expansion, Jack and Linda retired from the business in 2007, transitioning to board involvement and succeeded in ownership by their children, Michelle St. John and Derek Butcher. Continuing the IBS legacy, Michelle joined the STAFDA board from 2014 – 2019, serving as the association’s first-ever female president in 2018. Today, IBS serves over 5,000 maintenance departments across 11 states with the same priorities, values, and standards Jack and Linda instilled in the company, and is actively expanding the IBS experience.
